Two adverts appeared in Melody Maker. One for a 'Powerful Saxophone Player' and one for a 'Powerful Trombone Player' The ads continued…

'….wanted for big group. Must be a very hard player. Must also be very musical and possess excellent tuning. No multi-instrumentalists, druggies or drinkers need apply. Dedicated musicians only'

I love the way that multi-instrumentalists are equated with druggies and drinkers. That would have ruled out most musicians!

July 24 - Helen O'Hara phoned to tell me we would be playing on The Tube on August 16

July 25 - My wife Carol wrote in the diary…'Michael phoned Helen and asked her to get Kevin to give him a definite yes or no about playing with them.
